Right Where We Are

Do you need a few minutes to just be? To be present with yourself and with God? Are you looking to develop a rhythm of stillness and contemplation? Then join Sumer as she creates a space through the short readings of scripture, sometimes a story or two from her own life, where you can just be, held by Love, right where you are. May these ancient words be kind companions along your journey wherever you are.

A Prayer for Advent
O God, You are God,
who bends and kneels toward our world,
drenching it in love,
and making it new with every breath.

O Jesus, You are God become human,
and you have brought every person
a spark of the divine.

O Spirit, hovering God,
you are present among us,
abiding, upholding and awaking
all things to God's grace.

May we be a people who do justice,
love kindness and walk humbly with you, God,
and with each other.
May we be ready for Your reign,
awake and alert as we work now
to bring Your kingdom near.

As Christmas comes close
may we lift up our hearts in hope and in love
seeing Your coming in each moment and person,
each challenge and heartache,
each blessing and joy.
May it be so O, Lord.

Keep us faithful, Lord Jesus, and come soon.

Amen

Today's episode will feature The Peace Prayer commonly known as The Prayer of Saint Francis. While often attributed to the Italian Saint Francis of Assisi who lived from 1182 to 1226, this widely know Christian prayer can only be traced back to 1912. Regardless of who wrote it, these words are worth spending time with and making into a prayer of our own. May Love hold you wherever you are today.

Right Where We Are

Hi! I'm Sumer and this is my family: my husband, Jens, my son, Reece and daughter, Delaney. Oh, and our dog, Peyton.  Two years ago our family left its church and we've been walking in the wilderness ever since. We've been surprised by the beauty and depth that has greeted us here. I’m not a professional podcaster or phycologist, Bible scholar or theologian. I’m just a person who loves to operate at a slower pace and is deeply committed to walking, albeit imperfectly, in the ways of healing and wholeness while being deeply formed by Love. Maybe we're not alone, maybe you're out here in the wilderness too. Wherever you are, we can be here together, finding our way, all the while being held by Love.
